MBFWA Day 2

Alex Perry Ready-To-Wear S/S 2014/15

Alex Perry stunned his audience with his guest Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio by having her open and close his show. This set him apart from all the other designers and captivated his viewers to become more engaged with his 'Varsity' collection. "Varsity is inspired by USA grid iron players and homecoming queens. The focus is on seperates in Japanese denim, new age laser cut reptile leather, precision colour splicing, slithering '70's-inspired evening gowns and hand-beaded, French lace prom confections" - Alex Perry's preview for Fashion week to Vogue Australia. His use of Japanese denim is giving off a different aesthetic than the usual monocrome that we have been seeing on the runway this season. We especially love how he has juxtaposed reptile leather with soft free flowing material into his gowns, giving them a soft relaxed feminine appeal without them looking too heavy and masculine.
